In the age of 19, sprinter Hima Das Won Five Gold Medals In Europe 2019.

After the remarkable performance, the youngest blood in Indian sports Hima Das inserts her name in new gold medalist after winning five gold medals within three weeks in Europe. In the age of 19, she succeeded four race of 200m and one race of 400m in Poland and Czech Republic events.

Many famed personalities of Bollywood and Politics are praising her for this achievement. Moreover, In the future, we can expect more medals from her end in the upcoming events.

The journey of Hima Das

She started her journey just 18 months ago. It was in 2016 that her physical education teacher advised that she take up an individual sport instead of football. In the beginnings of her journey, she faced a plethora of obstacles during training. she didn't have a running track for practice Instead of this she worked hard on the muddy football field. The compulsion of poor life was not hurdle in her success. She dreamed it and achieved it on any cost without any break. Finally, she won five gold medals in Europe in 2019.

If we talk about her family background, she was born into a farmer family in Assam and have 4 siblings. She was living a normal life rather than a luxurious life after facing a lot of problems she became A gold medalist. This is one of the reasons why people are admiring her today. After spending a hard life she is shining now. Before Becoming Gold Medalist running was not her first preference as a player because at the beginning of struggle she was focusing on football moreover, she wants to represent India as a football player. However, two years ago she had to swap her interest to athletics and that action showed a positive result when she won five gold medals in Europe 2019. In April 2018, Das participated in the 2018 Commonwealth Games at Gold Coast, Australia, in the 400m and the 4×400m relay. In the 400 meters, Das made her place in the final where she reached on sixth in a time of 51.32 seconds, 1.17 on the second rank behind gold medalist Amantle Montsho from Botswana. In the 4×400m relay, she participated in the Indian team that completed seventh in the final, with a time of 3 minutes and 33.61 seconds. On 12 July 2018, Das succeed in the 400 m final at the World U-20 Championships 2018 held at Tampere, Finland, clocking 51.46 seconds and she was the first Indian sprinter who won a gold medal in an international event. Having run a slower first half, Das reached on the last 100-meter stretch, After defeating three competitors.

At the 2018 Asian Games, Das selected for the 400 m final, after the timing of 51.00 in heat 1 and setting a new Indian national mark. On 26 August 2018, she achieved the national record to 50.79 s in the 400 m final to win the silver medal. Hima Das, along with M. R. Poovamma, Sarita Gayakwad and V. K. Vismaya won on 30 August 2018 in women's 4 × 400 meters relay clocking 3:28.72. Earlier on the same day, Das did not succeed to qualify for the final of the 200 meters race, due to a wrong start in a semifinal. Hima also won a silver medal in the 4×400 m mixed relay, which was organized for the first time at Asian Games.
