India's IAF Wing Commander Who Taught Lesson To Pakistan By Doing His Duty
A Wing Commander of Indian Air Force Abhinandan Varthaman VrC was born 21 June
1983 Abhinandan came in the limelight when he was held captive for 60 hours in
Pakistan after his aircraft was shot down in an aerial dogfight in 2019
India-Pakistan standoff. On 15 August
2019, He received the Vir Chakra gallantry award.
IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan's Early life and career:-
Abhinandan was born in
Thirupanamoor, a village about 19 km from Kanchipuram. His father was
also in Military who retired as an Air Marshal(OF-8) in the Indian Air Force
and his mother is a doctor. At Sainik Welfare School, Amaravathi Nagar in Chennai
Abhinandan did his early schooling. From the National Defence Academy he got a
degree and on 19 June 2004, he was commissioned into the combat (fighter) stream
of the Indian Air Force as a flying officer. In Bathinda and Halwara He was
trained at the IAF centres, on 19 June 2006 and on 8 July 2010 He was promoted to flight lieutenant, and squadron leader.
Before being assigned to the MiG-21 Bison squadron Abhinandan was a Su-30 MKI
fighter pilot. Abhinandan is married to a retired IAF Squadron leader and
who lives in Chennai and they have two children.
Incident In Pakistan:-
IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan was flying
a MiG-21 as a part of a sortie that was scrambled to intercept an intrusion by
Pakistan aircraft into Jammu and Kashmir on 27 February 2019. Suddenly, he
crossed into Pakistan territory where he was trapped by a missile. Abhinandan
descended safely in the village of Horan in Pakistan, approximately 7 km far
from the LOC(Line of Control ). With the Indian flag on his parachute, local villagers
identified as an Indian pilot by the Indian flag on his parachute. After
landing, he asked villagers for water and he asked people," is he in
India?". But with people Pakistani local language he got the hint so he
started to run approximately 500 metres to a small pond, where he attempted to
sink and swallow some of his documents. Subsequently, he was caught by the
Pakistani military.
After that day, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs
accepted that an Indian pilot Abhinandan was missing in action after a MiG-21 The bison fighter plane was lost while engaging with Pakistani jets. Pakistan was
not giving any information about it. However after a lot of pressure Pakistan
ready to release Abhinandan.

questions but Abhinandan strictly said no when it comes to Nation related
questions. Repatriation and subsequent developments, On 28 February 2019, As a "gesture of peace Prime
Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan announced at a joint sitting of the Parliament
of Pakistan that the government had decided to release Abhinandan the next
day". On 1 March 2019, Varthaman crossed the India-Pakistan border
at Wagah. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the release of
Abhinandan at a political rally and said that the nation was proud of him.
After a medical
check-up upon his return located multiple bruises and a fractured rib but no
'significant injuries'. Abhinandan said that the Pakistani authorities did not
physically torture him, however, they subjected him to considerable "mental
harassment".

Within a week Abhinandan's moustache has become trendy in
India Which is now widely called the "Abhinandan-cut" in India. His
moustache becomes a trend on social media. Many companies used it as a logo for
a few days for their advertisement. such as. Dairy company Amul produced a
video with Jim Sarbh, featuring a little girl wearing an Abhinandan-shaped milk
moustache. It shows great respect for the Indian army by Nation.
